Board Unanimously Approves Dr. Amanda Brantley as Walnut Grove High School Principal

At its most recent meeting, the Walton County Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Amanda Brantley as the next principal of Walnut Grove High School for the 2026–2027 school year.

“We are excited for Dr. Brantley to serve as the next principal of Walnut Grove High School,” said Superintendent Chip Underwood. “She brings extensive experience in instructional leadership, school operations, and campus culture across multiple school systems. Dr. Brantley has served in a variety of leadership roles throughout her career and understands the importance of building relationships, supporting teachers, and maintaining high expectations for students. We look forward to the leadership she will bring to Walnut Grove High School.”

Dr. Brantley currently serves as assistant principal at Walnut Grove High School, where she supports several academic departments and works closely with teachers and students to strengthen instructional practices and student support systems. In her current role, she has helped improve attendance processes and streamline intervention supports for students.

Before joining Walton County, Dr. Brantley served as an elementary school principal in Houston County, Peach County Schools, and Austin Independent School District in Texas. During her time in those roles, she led school improvement efforts focused on student achievement, literacy and mathematics growth, campus operations, and school culture. She also participated in major campus renovation projects and managed local, state, and federal budgets for Title I schools.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Brantley served as principal of two Title I elementary schools in Houston County, Georgia, where she helped oversee campus transitions, staff realignment, and the opening of renovated school facilities. She also has experience mentoring aspiring school leaders and participating in leadership development programs at both the state and university levels.

Dr. Brantley holds a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Mercer University, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Mercer University, and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Mercer University. She also holds a Georgia professional leadership certificate and has been recognized for her work in literacy leadership and principal mentoring.
